Sev Puri

Mumbai street foods are quite famous. One of the most famous is Chat. Sev puri, bhel puri, dahi puri, samosas, you name it and its available. If you are not a Mumabite and get a chance to visit Mumbai, never ever forget to try the chats available on the street and sold by street vendors as well as star hotels. No one can pin point to one and say “ohh that is my favorite” as each and every street food stands out on its own taste. And for those whose stomach does not agree to the street food can try it at home, though the taste does not match with those super talented bhaiyas on the street!!

Below I have given the recipe for sev puri, which is an Indian snack. Its’ a specialty which originates from Mumbai.

15-20 papadi (small flat hard puris. I have used ready made puris)
1/2 cup boiled potatoes, mashed
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup khajur imli chutney (dates & tamarind chutney)
1/3 cup pudina chutney (mint chutney)
Chaat masala
chopped coriander leaves
1 cup fine sev (silk sev)
Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Chopped raw mangoes (optional)

  • In a medium sized plate arrange around 6-7 papadi’s.
  • Top each of the papadi’s first with mashed potatoes, kajur imli chutney, pudina chutney and chopped onion
  • Now sprinkle the chaat masala and sev.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, pomegranate and raw mangoes and serve.
